In October 2019 Cindy Sheehan was dis-invited from speaking at an anti-war event in Carbondale Illinois due to trans activist pressure on the organizers of the event. This interview focuses on the story of her de-platforming at that event and also her thoughts and analysis of what trans activism is and the role it is playing in leftist movements.
Cindy Sheehan is an American anti-war activist, whose son, U.S. Army Specialist Casey Sheehan, was killed by enemy action during the Iraq War in 2004. Since then, she has traveled in the USA and abroad to speak out against US led wars and war time economics that fuel endless wars.
Thank you for this important interview!
Thanks so much to both of you, Cindy and Thistle! At the end of this interview, you discuss why “trans” dogma has such power and sway. You weren’t sure where this push was coming from and wondered whether there were paid activists. You posited that “they” (meaning the system itself) are exerting mind control by way of a dogma that serves the system, but it may not be individuals with any sort of actual agenda. I want to let you know that there are individuals who profit greatly from the proliferation of this dogma and who have inserted it into the culture very methodically and deliberately. If you haven’t read Jennifer Bilek’s article entitled “Who Are the Rich, White Men Institutionalizing Transgender Ideology?”, I highly recommend it as a starting point: https://thefederalist.com/2018/02/20/rich-white-men-institutionalizing-transgender-ideology/ Those who knew they stood to profit from this ideology purchased all of the LGB non-profits (in the same way that companies like Monsanto and Cargill have purchased all of the major environmental non-profits). Non-profits and academia (where queer theory was purposefully inserted by those with the money and power to do so in the 90s) are the places that liberals look to for their cultural narratives. “They” (meaning those who control and profit from Big Pharma…the U.S.’s most powerful and well-funded political lobby by far) have also created lots of new non-profits to spread this agenda…organizations that do the “public service” of training educators, students, and others on how to properly interface with “trans” people; that offer workshops to parents of “trans”-identifying folks, teaching them to say things like “I will not let you erase my son!” [who just had both breasts removed in an elective double mastectomy]; that spread the myth that “trans”-identifying people experience higher rates of violence than any other group (it is, in fact, much safer, statistically, to be “trans” than to be gay: https://medium.com/@sue.donym1984/the-transgender-movement-and-bad-stats-a-debunking-compilation-31760947b382). All of this has been very deliberate. Here’s another article that actually follows the money on this stuff…it’s not as tight as Jennifer Bilek’s article and is a bit of a slog to get through, but the upshot is that there is big money being poured into making sure that this ideology is out there and accepted: https://medium.com/@sue.donym1984/inauthentic-selves-the-modern-lgbtq-movement-is-run-by-philanthropic-astroturf-and-based-on-junk-d08eb6aa1a4b
